For the first time, Fotofestiwal Lodz International Festival of Photography will organise two unique MASTERCLASS workshops – concise, professional development opportunities with distinguished photographers, and international photographic experts. Fotofestiwal Lodz will host Masterclasses with Simon Norfolk – documentary photographer, winner of the World Press Photo 2012, Hester Keijser – freelance curator and Tina Ahrens – co-founder and Director of Emphas.is.
The MASTERCLASS workshops are aimed at photographers who want to develop their skills and knowledge, while gaining invaluable experience working with specialists.

Places are limited – Only 15 participants for each Masterclass.
All workshops will be held in English.
Applications will be accepted until 15.03.2012.

Four days with Simon Norfolk
An intensive, practice-oriented photography masterclass run under the guidance of Simon Norfolk. The curriculum includes technical instruction, group critiques, daily reviews and monitoring/guidance by Norfolk involving daytime classroom sessions, partnered with photographic shooting sessions in the early evening and early morning light (5am).

BOOK – III CASE STUDY with Hester Keijser and guest lecturer Tina Ahrens
This 3-day masterclass photo workshops will engage participants in analyzing the basics elements of photo book making. Instruction includes: translating a set of images into printed matter, editing different bodies of work for publishing, choosing appropriate printing and binding methods, selecting and working with graphic designers, printers and publishers, distribution of your completed photo book, publicity, as well as frank discussions on self-publishing versus working directly with a publisher. The masterclass also includes a visit to a local printer and a guest lecture by publisher Tina Ahern, Director of Emphas.is.
